Explore KAI's 5 Newest Train Compartments with AR and VR Technology

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or PT KAI, is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) engaged in rail transportation in Indonesia, with a long history dating back to its inception.

PT KAI is collaborating with Assemblr to introduce innovative AR and VR technologies that will showcase their latest train services to the public, in line with its commitment to providing safe, timely, and environmentally friendly services to support public mobility and interregional connectivity in Indonesia.

Introducing 5 New Compartments with VR

PT KAI has just released five new flagship train compartments: the Suite Compartment, Luxury New Generation, Panoramic, Executive New Generation, and Economy New Generation. To introduce these new services to the public, PT KAI needs some innovations that could showcase KAI's service transformation to the public and strengthen its position as a modern world-class mode of transportation.

AR and VR technologies were chosen to interactively engage users in exploring the train compartments while also providing an overview of the facilities and views available in each carriage.

Exciting Adventures at KAI Expo Xynergy 2025

This project was first introduced at the KAI Expo Xynergy 2025, held at the Assembly Hall, JICC Senayan, Central Jakarta, on August 2–3, 2025. It will also be showcased at various other KAI events, including international ones in Singapore and London.

Visitors can explore the train compartments in a virtual world using VR. Giving them the chance to feel the realistic experience of being on a train without actually boarding. In this experience, visitors can view the interior of each train type in 360°, check the position of their desired seat, and explore key features in each class, such as reclining seats, entertainment systems, panoramic windows, and more. They can even watch interactive animations explaining the functions and advantages of the seats and interior space.

‍Magical AR Postcard to Bring a Miniature Train to Life

In addition to interactive VR experiences, Assemblr has also developed AR Magic Postcards that can be scanned to reveal 3D miniature trains from PT KAI anytime, anywhere. With these AR Magic Postcards, visitors can see the miniature trains right on their desks, explore their features with the touch of a finger, and take home a modern and memorable souvenir of the event!

Through this approach, PT KAI not only showcases its products but also successfully delivers a futuristic and educational exploration experience, enabling visitors to become more engaged and remember the excellence of PT KAI's train services in a fun way!
