With various interactive learning materials available, you might find yourself struggling to find the right one. If you’re looking for ones that are compact and easy to apply, flashcards can do wonders for you.
With flashcards, students can learn many things in an interactive way in pairs, be it language, numbers, science, or many other things.
To give your flashcards and learning experiences a little bit of twist, you can also incorporate augmented reality (AR) elements into them.
As your students reveal the flashcards, you can let them scan the cards to see the pop-up AR content above the flashcards.
Now that you know AR is handy for your flashcards, another question might occur: “Is it doable on my own? I’m just a teacher, though?”
Well, say no more! In this tutorial, we’re going to unveil the step-by-step to make AR flashcards with Assemblr EDU.
Using the platform, you can create DIY AR contents easily, as simple as drag-and-drop. Here’s how!
You can make your own designs using various platforms such as Canva. Yup, we’re using this one here. The good thing about Canva is that it provides pre-made design templates to help you create faster.
You can access Assemblr EDU both on mobile applications and web browsers. However, we recommend you access it from the web browser for a more seamless and smooth experience.
If you're already in, choose You, and click Create New Project.
On the Editor, you can make various types of learning materials; be it presentations, simple quizzes with Interactivity, or just pop-up objects above the flashcards.
Simply drag and drop thousands of assets and elements, and you can make your own AR using the provided 2D & 3D library—or even upload your own images, videos, and audio.
For example, if you’re teaching about alphabets and words, you can pop up the AR with dancing alphabets that can turn into the associated word. Or, you can also make your students guess which word or alphabet it is with simple AR quizzes.
On the Editor, choose the Custom Marker Settings button, and upload your flashcard designs as custom AR markers.
You should never skip this step! This one’s necessary, so when students scan your flashcards, your AR contents can pop up right above the flashcards.
If everything’s all set, click Publish, and fill in all the details needed.
Once your project’s published, you will see the Share Project section at the end of it. Check on the URL, and click Copy Link to copy your project's URL.
Head to any online QR generators on the Internet, and paste your project’s link to be converted to QR codes.
You might wonder if it’s quite necessary, and the answer is: yes, it’s a must! This QR code will be the trigger to open your project’s link on your web browser, so students don’t have to download Assemblr EDU mobile application to make it work.
Back to your Canva flashcard designs, but this time, you need to add the QR code into your flashcard. No need to make it very big; just a small one at the corner of your flashcard, so it doesn’t bother your design.
And that’s how to make your own AR flashcards for your interactive learning materials. Now time to print your flashcard designs, and your flashcards are ready to use! If you want to see the result, simply scan your flashcards with your mobile device’s camera.
Enjoy your flashcards, and don’t forget to make your own now on Assemblr EDU!
